The Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) and Social Justice Resource Center (SJRC) Welcome you to our spaces and communities.
The CIE & SJRC are justice-oriented and welcoming spaces on campus that work to build socially conscious communities across difference. We host engaging programs and dialogues, affinity groups, and promote opportunities for intersectional identity development through a lens of social justice.
Northeastern has made a commitment to foster inclusion on campus, and the CIE & SJRC are two spaces within the university that seek to achieve this goal.
We transform the way Northeastern learners study, live and work with people who are different than themselves and learn how to navigate systems that don’t always address their needs.
the CIE-SJRC’s work is student-centered—rooted in radical love, generosity, connection, and transparency.
We honor the complexity in intersectionality, and difference through knowing, learning & being. Further, with an exploratory lens, we anchor grace, growth, and authenticity in our work toward youth advocacy and action-oriented development.
We do this by:
Creating and holding space for all students to explore their intersecting identities
Providing opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to critically engage across difference
Developing trainings and dialogues that build skills and foster a sense of belonging for all
Encouraging community and coalition building across established groups
